Model by Mike Walsh

Mike describes this project- "The CH-46 is a Hasagawa 1/72nd scale kit originaly set up for Marine Corps markings. I modified it to civillian category. I made it into a Kawasaki 107 Vertol in Columbia Helicopter markings. Columbia uses the civilian model of the 46's, made by Boeing and Kawasaki. Columbia pretty much guts the inside of their aircraft out to optimize the ability to carry more weight- i.e. 1100 gallions of water. I removed the rear cargo door and made ribs and the other braces more visible inside. The most important mod and the hardest is the bubble windows on the cockpit. I used a small ball bearing and thin clear plastic. I heated the plastic to almost liquid stage, and then placed the plastic over the bearing. The markings were all airbrushed, the numbers and letters all came out of the spares box. One thing to keep in mind- Columbia has changed their markings and paint design over the years. Not by much, but little things like the placement of N#'s and company logos. This was a fun conversion to do."
