Site Overview
Welcome to Scale Firebombers.com! What you are looking at here is the result of the
hard work of a lot of people within the scale modeling community.
This website was built to address what many of us feel is an under-represented area in
scale modeling. On these pages you will find walkaround pictures of a variety of different
firefighting aircraft, both fixed-wing and helicopters.
Here is a summary of what you will find on this website-
- What's New! page-this is where the newest additions and updates to the site will be
listed, with the most recent updates at the top of the list.
- 'Looking For' page-this is where I have listed items that I'm looking for, that are
proving more difficult than usual to find. Of course, I'm always accepting any submissions of items that you
think would be appropriate for the website.
- History page- this page outlines the history of how this website got started,
and how the site went from a concept to what it is now.
- Submissions page- this page provides information on what you need to do if you
are going to submit photographs or information to this website, including a email link to
send your submissions to.
- Models page- this page contains the Gallery of models of firefighting aircraft,
sent in by the readers of this website.
- Aircraft link- this takes you to the section of this website that has walk-around pictures
of actual firefighting aircraft. Also included on each page is a listing of available kits for that
aircraft, that a scale modeler can use as a base for building a model of the aircraft featured on a
particular page.
The aircraft depicted are by no means a complete list of what will be
available on this website- I have several more aircraft to build pages for, and I will also be profiling
non- U.S. firefighting aircraft as well. Also, I will be adding pages for ground equipment, such as the
retardant mixing tanks, servicing pits, and anything else that may be of help to those scale modelers who
like to build dioramas.
- SIG Corner- this link takes you to the Discussion Forum for this website. You can browse the
posts without the need to log in, but if you want to post a message or reply to messages posted by other users,
you will need to register to obtain a log-in and password. One of the purposes of the Discussion Board is to
provide a means of communication for the IPMS Firebomber Special Interest Group (SIG). This Forum takes the
place of the written newsletter that was used by the old Firebomber SIG about 10 years ago. You do not have to
be a member of the IPMS to register membership on the Forum. All you need is an interest in firefighting aircraft,
and/or interest in building models of firefighting aircraft.
- Credits page- this page contains the names of all the people who have contributed
to this website, either by sending in pictures and/or aircraft information, or who helped with
design and layout ideas. I've also recognized those who gave support and encouragement as this
website was being built. The list is long and distinguished!
- Links page- finally, this page contains links to scale modeling webzines, hobby suppliers,
kit manufacturers, and anything else that might be of use or help for hobbyists who wish to build a
scale model of a firefighting aircraft.
So browse the site and enjoy! And if you have any suggestions, or information, pictures, etc.
please feel free to contact me!
Best regards,
Dan Farnham
